Dr. Rajan Bedi has worked in the global space industry for 25 years designing and developing the technology used on-board satellites and spacecraft. In 2014, Dr. Bedi founded Spacechips to bring-to-orbit his inventions, winning Start-Up Company of the Year and High-Reliability Product of 2025, 2018, 2017 and 2016. In 2024, Rajan won Technology Entrepreneur of the Year and in 2020, Disruptive Entrepreneur of the Year, at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards.
Since the age of five stargazing in the crystal-clear Northern-Irish skies, Rajan wondered if space technology could be used to help people and make our beautiful planet a safer and happier home. Today, Spacechips serves clients in 25 countries, contributing satellite-based solutions to humanity’s biggest challenges such as Climate Change, Food Security & Sustainability, Digital Divide, Disaster Management, Telemedicine and Smart Cities.
When not launching satellites into space, Rajan is a keen foodie, who enjoys delicious, healthy and well-flavoured plant-based cooking. For thirty years, Rajan has been fascinated by the links between diet, nutrition and health, and how we can use food and as natural, preventative medicine to improve our health-span and well-being. This passion has resulted in his latest venture, The Vegan Rocket Scientist.
